Episode 33: Burnout Prevention Tool: Mindful Self-Compassion

In this episode, I interview Sabrina Basquez about her journey through burnout and compassion fatigue. She discusses how she defines it and the differences between these and vicarious trauma and secondary traumatic stress.  She describes more about how compassion fatigue could be defined as empathy fatigue.   Sabrina shares her symptoms and how she overcame them. She discusses how she is a “wounded healer” and how it helps her as a Therapist. She shares who is more at risk of developing compassion fatigue.  

  Sabrina discusses the 3 components of mindful self-compassion and how it can help healthcare providers.  She shares how it can help with compassion fatigue.  She discusses the Accelerated Recovery program which is more evidenced-based n overcoming CF and burnout but how it’s not always accessible to those who need it.  She gives other suggestions for providers to overcome compassion fatigue.
